The BAGS program is a qualified vendor contracted through the Department of Developmental Services to provide Individualized Day Services to individuals in the West Region. We encourage independence, growth, and respect while maintaining positive relationships in the community to help strengthen and develop a meaningful quality of life through our curriculum. We strive to promote healthy living through the use of our on-site fitness center and gym. We provide individuals with life skills training, vocational training, and advocacy mentoring, and promote family engagement through the utilization of community resources.
The BAGS team believes in the transformational power of therapy. That is why our counseling services are open to both youth and adults.

BAGS Foundation CT helps to empower children and youth to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The BAGS mentoring program uses ABH-certified support staff to offer guidance and friendship to a young person. Our mentors help our students develop and reach positive academic and personal goals. They take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship and serve as a positive role model and friend. The mentoring program helps the student build self-esteem and motivation, helps the student set goals and work toward accomplishing them, and allows the mentor and student to have fun together.

B.A.G.S. After School program provides home-learning assistance, enrichment, and intervention activities in a fun and structured environment. Children benefit from educational support such as individualized and small group instruction. In addition to academics, children will be engaged in sports activities that are designed to improve social skills as well as increase self-esteem. This program provides a safe learning environment that constitutes learning. Our primary focus is to teach and reach children who are unable to be successful within traditional classrooms. It is our goal to emphasize to all children that they can be high achievers.

The BAGS Foundation After School Program is a champion at providing youth with an array of services that can positively impact their lives. BAGS provides opportunities that empower young people to grow with confidence and become better equipped to meet life's challenges. We strive to create a kind, caring, and respectful environment where all children can feel included, safe, and supported. Because we understand that all children are different, BAGS offers a diverse and vast set of services to accommodate all interests and needs.
The purpose of the BAGS programs is to assist teenage boys and girls in becoming productive citizens within society by obtaining and increasing life skills to be successful. Through guidance, mentoring, and coaching, students are taught work ethics in addition to applying, securing, and maintaining employment. Throughout the program, students are engaged in weekly workshops that discuss topics that relate to the workplace (sexual harassment, drugs and alcohol, attire, attendance, etc.). Students are also taught how to write a resume, money management, and conflict resolution. Students receive biweekly stipends for their performance in the program. Deductions are made when students break a rule, miss a day, or misbehave. It is our goal to build self-esteem and motivation within high-risk teens by teaching them that they have the potential to be “A Better ME”.
